About the Artisan:
Fabrica Alentejana de Lanificios is an artisan producer of handmade woven blankets & rugs. This Portuguese rug & blanket weaving loom factory has been in production for 105 years in the beautiful and isolated region of Alentejo. They are the only handmade workshop in the Peninsula Iberica producing 100% merino wool handmade rugs using traditional loom techniques.
Their small team of amazing artisans uses Portuguese Merino wool, which is wired and tinted in Portugal using a traditional and ecological coloring process. Every step of the process uses Portuguese old techniques that have not changed in more than 50 years.
From bohemian stripes to more elaborated geometric patterns their combinations are unlimited to create a beautiful and versatile floor piece that may also function as incredible wall art tapestries.
Their carpets and rugs or blankets are uniquely individual pieces with no identical piece produced. The merino wool is wired by hand with a manual production process that adds charm to each creation.
Rugs, blankets and cushion covers are fully customisable and available in particular styles, Blankets are finished with sheaths and the rugs adorned with fringes.
Due to the delicate nature of the production process, we highly recommend dry cleaning your rug to maintain it’s condition.
Unfortunately, due to the specific nature of each custom rug produced, we are unable to accept returns or exchanges on these design pieces.
