Sarjado handwoven wool rug

The Sarjado rug is a contemporary minimal and colorful handmade woven rug with striking yellow, black and ecru stripes and fringe trim detail.  Our pieces are all handmade in 100% merino wool. This best-selling rug has been in production for 15 years and is produced from an old traditional loom using a typical design motif from the Alentejo region This rug was originally used by roaming shepherds to protect them from the rain and cold. It is a versatile rug suitable for all homes and environments.

About the Artisan:

Fabrica Alentejana de Lanificios is a rug & blankets weaving loom factory in production for 105 years in the beautiful and isolated region of Alentejo. They are the oldest handmade producer of rugs & bed blankets factory in the Alentejo .

From bohemian stripes to more elaborated geometric patterns their combinations are unlimited to create a beautiful and versatile floor piece that may also function as incredible wall art tapestries.

Their Alentejo rugs and blankets called ‘mantas Alentejanas’ are uniquely individual pieces with no identical piece produced.
The merino wool is wired by hand with a manual production process that adds charm to each creation.

Rugs, blankets and cushion covers are fully customisable and available in particular styles, Blankets are finished with sheaths and the rugs adorned with fringes.

Due to the delicate nature of the production process, we highly recommend dry cleaning your rug to maintain it’s condition.
